What to wear? Top tips for your family photoshoot
Your family - authentically you.
Now that you’re all set for your photoshoot, it’s time to choose something gorgeous for you and your family to wear.
When choosing your outfits, keep them authentic to YOU! I want you to feel comfortable, beautiful and yourself.
You might want to dress up or keep it casual, it’s totally up to you.
I’m here to guide you through this process with my tips and tricks below, but as always, if you have any questions please reach out!
Start with Mum!
Dads and kids are notoriously easier to dress! So Mama’s, pick your outfit first, something that you feel your best in - then go through your family’s wardrobes for tones that compliment your outfit.
A few styling rules:
ONE patterned item only per family (avoid clashing and busyness)
NO pin stripes (they don’t photograph well)
Go for texture to create interest (knits, linen etc)
If in doubt, go neutral with off-white and earthy tones
Consider the weather - you may need layers if the weather is cooler, and lighter fabrics in summer.
For Dad
Think neutrals! I love off-whites, earthy tones and casual, comfortable fabrics for men.
Gone are the days of Dad in his office button-up on the beach! When styling Dad think casual waffle, knits, texture, linen, neutral t-shirts, open shirt with a t-shirt underneath, the options are endless. Also consider the weather when choosing his outfit, maybe you need to pack a jumper?
For the little ones
Have some fun! Again, if you can, choose tones that compliment your outfit, but add some personality with tutu’s, sparkles, denim and their fave things. I can’t wait to see what vibes you create with your outfits!
Now that you’ve got styling covered - enjoy making these memories together and capturing authentic, loving moments with your family.
